DESCRIPTION:

Speculation in Paint briefly examines the meaning of icons.  Emphasized is a comparison between the differences between authentic icons and Western religious painting, and between true icons and the so-called "realistic," westernized "pseudo-icons." 

This video compares the different ideas and beliefs that are expressed in the the different styles of icons and religious paintings, including the portrayal of evil, the devil and demons, of war and battle, in western painting and in icons, in relation to the wartime experience of evil.

Numerous examples of the finest old Russian icons are shown.  All lovers of icons will enjoy this video.
